Just gotta build yourself a houseboat and you can follow the coastline right up the hill:laughing:

I lived aboard our boat for three years in Aventura FL, like floating in a city parking lot, but very safe from storms. I'd love to live aboard again.
Water levels are a real issue. This last storm Sandy likely did a lot of boating and marina damage, which negatively impacts a lot of other surrounding
businesses. Hard to buy a crab dinner when the restaurant is under water.

Personally I think our weather is getting more severe. I've had over sixty years of observation to produce that opinion. Each year we lose power in our home more often.
And I know the ice caps are melting and the glaciers are generally melting at unprecedented rates.

Whether this is all part of a natural cycle or unnaturally induced, either way, I think we need to "clean up our act" in every way possible. Not doing so is irresponsible and short sighted
to the extreme. But legislating 100X improvement in too short a time is equally irresponsible and short sighted. I'm a car buff and I've been following CAFE issues for a long time, and
am wondering what hybrid I will eventually end up with. We have to change the way we are treating this earth, we need a common purpose. Too bad we wiped out all the American Indians
who were taking a lot better care of this place before "we" showed up...

Cheer up, he's Canadian!

I guess I should have said North America. Canada went socialist about 30 years ahead of us, but Obama is working hard to make up that lost time.

When you are so ignorant that you are denying Physics that is sinking to a real low point.
If you actually have a tractor, start it up and put your hand on the intake, it is cold put your hand on the fuel filter it is cold, then put you hand on the exhaust, leave your had on it for at least an minute, that is heat, it makes the engine run and have the ability to do work.
Then look at the exhaust it goes up that is hot air rising.
Tornadoes form along a line of cold air contacting warm moist air, if you watch the weather channel they explain it every time there is a threat.

You GW (Global warming) guys have to calm down, pour yourself a glass of wine or soda or something. Stop trying to make believe you can control the climate, Stop panicking that you're losing control of the earth (like you ever could control it). Stop trying to drag down the rest of us to some former century or worse. If our homemade co2 is causing some tragic reaction some 200 or so years from now then man will evolve just like every other creature has evolved since day one. Either become extinct or become stronger. That's just the way it is. Worry more about today's problems that are real without speculation and ad-lib bull. Like figure out the cure for cancer, paying down the debt. Getting a good job, Buying some new toys. Or here's a dream finding oil in your back yard when you were doing some backhoe work, crude black co2 polluting oil, Texas tea yeah that will change your feeling on GW real fast:thumbsup:.

The earth will be fine without you liberals trying to raise the cost of living for the rest of us while you're on your current freak out cause. You got Obama elected be happy. Today global warming, tomorrow global cooling. You liberals always need some major cause to get behind or you just don't feel right you want the need to feel powerful, wanted , needed etc. Take care of things you can control for real not make believe you have the power to change or stop the global climate change., WOW just saying that sounds so damm silly (change the climate of the great and powerful earth) - how silly is that? We are only here for 100 years at a time. Grab it, use it, live it, squeeze the living s*** out of it ... then die like everybody else did. That's hows it's done.

The rest of the people on TBN on all the other threads are all happy go lucky tractor owners talking about tilling fields and oil leaks. You global guys are all panicking trying convince the rest of us we have to save the world from your made up doom and life is moving on without you. I'm what you GW would call a stupid denier and proud of it. Live and let die (On another note, did you guys see the New Kubota line up for 2013?) posted all in good fun relax.;) Happy Thanksgiving oops can I say that to you guys?

Problem is, none of the predicted increase in major hurricanes has come to pass. For 5 of 6 seasons they predicted that the warming was going to cause way more storms and more violent storms. What happened is a matter of history, all 5 had below normal activity. Then we want to use our life's experience, well great, let's compare time frames. I'm 60, we've been keeping accurate weather data for roughly 120 years, we've had weather and climate for 3-4 billion years. So what I see happening in my lifetime is an accurate yardstick of all weather history, and the Easter Bunny lays chocolate eggs.

Thanksgiving Cranberry Supply Short: Global Warming a Cause?
Plunge in Supply Equated with Rise in Temp

Scientists, climatologists, financial analysts, farmers, and cranberry lovers alike worry this year痴 massive cranberry decrease isn稚 just a passing phenomenon. According to the Christian Science Monitor, the red berry, ubiquitous during the holiday season will fall short by one-third this year and is held to retreat north later this century, deserting some key growing regions.

Scientists blame this past year's unusually warm winter. A summer drought in much of the United States and Canada did not help matters either. Considering the fruit thrives with a cold winter and heavy rain, balmy winters and dry summers make for a low yield.

As reported by the Christian Science Monitor, the Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment (NECIA), says the Northeast痴 food commodities are likely to suffer the effects of warmer temperatures. The organization, which closely studies the economic impact of global warming, said berries, a highly lucrative crop in New England, are anticipated to see the greatest reduction.

In Toronto, the Toronto Star reports about ski slopes taking the lead in responding to climate change for obvious reasons. A warmer climate means warmer winters and less snow, leaving those who go without to make their own. Ski slopes have embraced climate manipulation for years, having made a practice of creating their own snow when none falls naturally. (That, by the way, takes an awful lot of water and energy.)

In Georgia, Pike Family Nurseries, a 50-year old family business, filed for bankruptcy because it can't survive the extreme drought that's been plaguing the Southeast for months. While the drought can't be tied directly to global warming, more intense droughts are predicted as a consequence, with some predicting Dust Bowl-like conditions stretching virtually from sea to shining sea throughout the American South. That would clearly harm not only greenhouses, but golf courses, landscapers and any other business that relies on people, since many would no doubt move to more hospitable climes.

It's also slowly making coffee disappear. The study by a conservation group suggests it could lead to the extinction of wild Arabic coffee by 2080.

I bet all you blathering, gullible, misguided AGW henny-penny's wish the extreme "dust bowl" weather of the 1930's would happen again so you could blame it on AGW...

Just exactly what will be your excuses be if in the next 15-30 years the current warming trend reverses itself...what will the blathering idiots that believe in the ignorance of experts be saying then?

Climate Insurance

Climate change can have adverse impacts on climate insurance affordability and availability, potentially slowing the growth of the industry and shifting more of the burden to governments and individuals. Most forms of insurance are vulnerable, including property, liability, health, and life. Often small scale, gradual, diffuse, and indirect events are often overlooked like the following list:

Blackouts; Crop damages; Drought; Equipment breakdown; Eroded air quality; Eroded water quality; Hail; Ice Storms; Infectious diseases; Lightning; Mudslides; Sea-level rise/Coastal; Sinkholes; Subsidence; Thunderstorms; Tornados; Vehicle damages; Wildfire; and Winterstorms.
Between the 1960s and 1990s the number of natural catastrophes doubled and insured losses increased nearly seven-fold…

Climate Change: Insurers Confirm Growing Risks, Costs

Stakeholders from the insurance industry met with members of the U.S. Senate to acknowledge the role global warming plays in extreme weather-related losses, and to issue a call for action.
The politics of global warming have typically involved much debate as to the role climate change plays in growing weather-related risk. Yesterday, however, at a Capital Hill a press conference on the cost of climate change, debate was not on the agenda. Pointing to a year of history-making, $1 billion-plus natural disasters, representatives of Tier 1 insurance companies took a definitive stance with members of the U.S. Senate to confirm that costs to taxpayers and businesses from extreme weather will continue to soar because of climate change.

Representatives from The Reinsurance Association of America, Swiss Re and Willis Re and Ceres, a nonprofit organization that leads a national coalition of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies to address a variety of sustainability challenges, joined Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) yesterday to discuss the growing financial impact of global warming.

“From our industry’s perspective, the footprints of climate change are around us and the trend of increasing damage to property and threat to lives is clear,” said Franklin Nutter, president of the Reinsurance Association of America. “We need a national policy related to climate and weather.”

Property and casualty insurers in the United States experienced an estimated $44 billion in losses last year when hurricanes, droughts, tornadoes and other natural disasters were more severe, longer, more frequent and less predictable than in the past.

According to Swiss Re, the average weather-related insurance industry loss in the U.S. was about $3 billion a year in the 1980s compared to approximately $20 billion annually by the end of the past decade.

“As a member of the global insurance industry, we have witnessed the increased impact of weather-related events on our industry and around the world,” said Mark Way, head of Swiss Re's sustainability and climate change activities in the Americas. “A warming climate will only add to this trend of increasing losses, which is why action is needed now.”
