What backhoe is this, A skid steer backhoe???
Which two cylinders did you remove? the lower boom cylinder and the dipper cylinder?
Just to be clear the hydraulic cylinder packing gland holds the rod sealing wiper and the rod packing.
The hydraulic cylinder barrel holds the cylinder rod, double acting piston, piston sealing O ring, piston
packing and cylinder rod in place. The packing gland stuffing box holds the rod dust and dirt wiper
and rod wiper packing behind it.
If the cylinder barrel is not round there is no hope for it and the entire cylinder needs to be replaced.
If this is the dipper cylinder and you intend to keep this backhoe you need to buy a better hydraulic
cylinder with a bronze stop tube the same diameter of the piston to reduce the possibility of damaging
it by increasing the surface area of the cylinder piston.
The rule for ordering the correct bronze stop tube is to order a bronze stop tube is one inch in length for
each foot of fully extended cylinder rod length. If you have a dipper cylinder rod that has an 18 inch length
order a double acting hydraulic cylinder with a bronze stop tube that is 1.5 inches long.
