Gl 3540 snow pusher.

Im going to purchase a snow pusher for my machine very soon, seeking opinions from tbn's. I cant decide on the 8' or the 10' . My machine has turfs,724 fel & factory cab, weighing in at approximately 6000 lbs with my weight box. sno dogg recommends the following specs. 8' unit weighs 500 lbs, 40 hp and gross machine weight of 3500. 10' unit weighs 600 lbs, 50 hp and a gross machine weight of 4500 lbs. I have the weight for the 10 ' but im afraid of falling short on hp and traction? Opinions gentlemen, dont be shy! Thankyou.

I think 8 ft is about as big as I would go. I have a 7ft q/a blade on my GL3240 and when it is heavy wet snow the tractor is really working when the blade is not angled. I think a full 10 ft pusher would stop the tractor (spin the wheels) when pushing.

I have a 7ft blade I am going to use with my 4240. I think most guys with a grand L are using a 7ft or 7'6" blade. I think I would not go with a pusher any bigger than the 8ft. If you are going to be on gravel pushing snow and it is uneven the wider the pusher the more gravel you will be scalping. I think the owners manual only recommends a 7ft blade. I would rather have a narrower blade/ pusher and the tractor handle it than have a wide blade/ pusher and it handle the tractor. It will also depend how deep and wet the snow is.

What are you going to do with a 10' pusher? Can't transport it, too wide. 10' would also be very difficult to manuver. My set up works very well, but it is only for personal/residential use. Philip.
