Gill soil palverizer

I recently bought a gill soil palverizer. It has two drums. The primary/larger drum has a sprocket on one end. I am wondering if at some point was this powered by a pto or gas engine? Or possibly tied into the other roller. Thanks in advance.

The soil pulverizers that I have seen all have what looks like an H beam across the front with scarifiers that dig into the dirt and the rollers behind them. What you have looks like an overseeder that will aerate the soil, drop seed and a second roller to press it all back down. The sprocket would probably drive the rollers to feed seed out.

You have an overseeder without the seed box, the sprocket would have powered the seed box.

Would it be possible to power that front sprocket to make this into a soil conditioner? Kind of like a harley rake type attatchment is what im looking for.

You probably could but I don't think the bearings would hold up on it. While they are robust enough for it to roll and do its things they don't look robust enough to be powered and do the new thing.
It will make a nice aerator, fabricate a scarifier bar into it and it will make a nice seed prep tool

Probably not, that chain drive was designed for very little load and I doubt the drum could handle it either. Power rakes take some pretty heavy abuse.
