Kubota B2320
I purchased a new BX 2350 a couple months ago and it now has 27.3 hrs on it. It's back in the shop for the second time. First time was a freaky mmm belt break. Not a biggie but I have never heard of a belt breaking on these machines, The dealer and the Rep think it was simply a defecive belt. Now the rear end is leaking. We think it's leaking around the shaft the comes from the engine. The Dealer shop forman is a friend of mine and we took the ROPS and rear fender off trying to get a better look but still could not tell where it is coming from exactly. He said he wanted to talk to his rep and see what Kubota wanted him to do. I thought that was odd but he said he rarely had anything like this and the last time. Kubota simply sent him a new rear end to drop in. Needless to say, I getting worried I got a lemon. Has anyone know how Kubota deals with multiple problem with a new tractor. Should I ask the dealer to do something here? Give it more time? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve:confused:

Don't think there's lemon law protection for tractors. Hate that this happens to anyone, but if you keep having trouble with the engine leaking and they can't fix it, don't expect a new tractor. DO expect a new engine at some point, though.

Hope they get it fixed quickly. Expect that, too. And free pick-up/delivery.

Be comforted that it is rare for Kubotas to have this type of problem. This is only happening to you. Makes you feel better, right?

Please update us.

I purchased my 2350 in May of '07. About 4 months and 50 engine hours later it developed a major leak at the seal where the main shaft from the engine enters the rear end. It was quite obvious where it was coming from after I removed the mower deck and started looking around. They ended up replacing the seal which required splitting the tractor in half:eek: . The good news is it hasn't leaked since.

Assuming you have a good dealer I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Well I spoke with the dealer today, They think there is a hairline crack in the trans housing and the Rep told them to pull it out and Kubota will send a new one. He estimated that I should have it back home late next week. He does not live far from me and told if I need to mow, let him know and he would bring his bx1500 over for me to use. I guess that is fair enough. I just hope this is the last Issue I have with for a long long while.

Thanks,
Steve

I know it's a PITA and not what you expected, but the time to have this stuff happen is while it's still in warranty. So, be thankful you found it when you did.

When you get it back, work it hard. Respect the break-in restrictions, but don't baby it. If there's a weak link anywhere, now's the time to find it. Save the babying for later. This is a tool that might be with you for the rest of your life. You have to find out if you can depend on it.

I followed your posts. You had quite a time from the get go. I have a lot of confidence in my dealer. I think I'm going to try and get something free off the kubota rep. I wonder what my chances are of getting a free front weight kit? LOL Slim to none I suspect but I think I'm gona ask. Its just anoying to pay that much money and have problems. I suppose Kubota's reputation of being rock soild raises our expectations and anything less than perfect upsets us.

Thanks,
Steve

Machines go through a life cycle. If there are defective parts, they usually show up right away and are covered under warranty, which is good. Then the machine works fine for a long time. Finally things begin to wear out.

I bought a new Dodge Viper GTS and in the first week it began to to leak oil. It had a defective gasket which had to be replaced. This was a bit of a downer. I kept the car for 5 years and never had another problem with it for the next 30,000+ miles.

I wouldn't worry just yet.
