Congrads on the new BX24 you will be amazed @ what it can do.
If you have a good truck you should be fine with that trailer just remeber to take it easy as you will be near the limit with your trailer.

congrats on the bx24. It's a nice machine. How heavy is the trailer standalone unladen?

1*Congrats on the BX24. I have a BX23.
2*Do you have the proper insurance on the trailer tractor and the tow vehicle to do that?
Do you have the proper tow veh. that will handle the job?
I think your 12' trailer is to short to fit a 15 foot tractor on.
3*Also the 3000 pound pay load is way to low.
I'm gussing it has 2 wheels rather than 4 wheels and no brakes.

here is food for thought on how much the BX24 weighs.

BX24 weight info
BX24 1520 lbs
Mower 250 lbs
Loader 375 lbs
Bucket 132 lbs
Back hoe 617 lbs
Total
Bx24+mower=1770lbs
Bx24+loader=2027lbs
BX24+loader+backhoe=2644lbs
BX24+loader+backhoe+mower=2894lbs equals almost 1.5 tons

So you can see here that a BX24,FEL,BH is 2644lbs and you stated you have a 3k rated trailer. This only leaves you 356 lbs for trailer weight. Then add the chains, and binders and diesel and oil. I think I'll leave you here to think about the weights I have listed here.;)

...and if you add loaded rear tires, you're over 3K.

If it's a single axle and it probably is with that weight limit I wouldn't do it. A flat tire on a single axle is a bad thing, a very bad thing especially if you are at or above weight capacity. Being at or above weight capacity will also cause you to be more likely to get a flat tire. Lots of times trailers are sold with used tires that may have sidewall issues and you don't want that. Trade/sell your trailer and get yourself a dual axle trailer. If your trailer is nice and you find a good 16' dual axle trailer it may not be much difference in price.

With all said and done, you should go up a level with the trailer. I would hope you have the right truck for the job, it looks like most 1500,150 series truck would do the job. Any comments that differ, please share.

Basically, what you are looking for is something that can tow at or above the tow rating of your new trailer you "might" be contemplating here. Right now I am using a s-10 blazer thats rated to to 5k and put my bx on 7k trailer with WD bars. This may not be the best towing package, but it works and its what I got at the moment. I do have plans to upgrade sometime in the future to a larger truck , but in the meantime at least I have something that works safely. I am not saying the s-10 is all you need, there were times I needed extra power on the highway.
When I took delivery of my BX, I had my dealer deliver for me since at the time all I had was a 8 ft single axel trailer. It was nice that my dealer delivered mine since he was able to take the time to show me around on my tractor while I puttered around the yard at home where I felt more comfortable, while he showed me the controls of the BX. Maybe this is something you might want to look into at the moment ?

jimpa,
Please do not use your 3000 lb. trailer! You are at max, your BX24 is quite the heavy not so little tractor.Look at radioman's post , he is right on with weights. Borrow buy larger trailer. I agree duel axle is the safest way to go.

Use your trailer until you can get the money for what you need!
Just make two trips for everything.
1 load for the tractor,
BX24 1520 lbs
1 load for the rest
loader+backhoe+mower=about 1500lbs with fuel etc.

Just make sure your trips are short and your tires are great.

I'm told I need a 16' 7000# trailer with 4 wheels and 4 brakes to haul my BX23 on.
This does not mean a lightly built landscape trailer either.
A BX24 would require the same requirements.
Your 04 Ford may be ok if it's a 3/4ton but I'm not sure about the suburan.
I'm looking for a 1 ton SRW pickup for a tow vehicle.

Your suburban should be able to pull the load no problem. A 1/2 ton should be more than capable of hauling your tractor on a 7K trailer.

You don't want to haul that tractor on a single axle light duty trailer.

I remember growing up, my dad pulled our travel trailer 4K empty, who knows fully loaded with three motocross bikes, food, water, clothes, tools, gas ,food, etc. with our 1/2 ton chevy van, 350, four barrell, tow package, we hauled that rig 100K miles easy. He insisted on the brakes working perfectly, the sway bar and load leveling hitch.

Remember one time a lady passing us on a grade, cut us off and hooked my dad's bumper, he hit the brakes and the trailer and truck stopped us and her in short order.

Your ford and chevy truck will tow the BX/trailer just fine. It just the trailer size you have is just not up to par with everything attached. Glad to hear your dealer gonna deliver. Sometimes this is the best way to go, give you a chance to talk tractor shop when he drops it off;)

Personally, I would never put that tractor on a single axle trailer, It's too heavy and that would be a very unstable load. Besides, My BX cost more than my truck, so take that into account in terms of financial risk.

I talked to my insurance guy and he said that the tractor is not covered on the trailer..sounds odd to me, but that's what he said. The only policy I could get for it is a commercial policy for 500-600 per year. Couldn't justify that, so it stays on my property.

You don't need a 3/4 ton truck to pull this...any V8 half ton will do fine. I've pulled 8K travel trailers with my GMC 1/2 ton Z71 with no problems. You know the load is back there, but it does just fine.

Funtioning trailer brakes are a must.

There is no material difference between a 7K car trailer and a 7k landscape trailer, just gates and configurations. The axles are what is generally rated anyway.

Thanks tim- its pretty much what I been saying all along.;)

If your financing it through Kubota, get the insurance that Kubota offers. Very cheap, but very good coverage!

So then what differences in them are there?
There must be some or one wouldn't be
a car trailer & the other a landscape trailer,

Car trailers are flat deck generally without sides and use ramps. LS trailers have some kind of sides and a fold down rear drive up gate and always have a flat deck.

Car trailers have runners or flat deck configs,....Frames and axles are the same in the same weight class.

Not sure what you're thinking of here, big box single axle trailers?

I hauled an '50 8n with FEL on a 7k ladscape traler with no problem, along with pickup trucks..The gate wasn't too happy, but everything else was cool.
