Hi folks. I had a JD 4210 with an MX5 cutter, and a 5 ft box blade years ago. Divorce caused the sale of that fine machine, and I downsized to a 2305 a bout 6 years ago. Recently I acquired 37 additional acres for a total of 48 mostly wooded, with about 10 acres of pipeline that I want to keep clear and mowed. The land is a mixture of flat to hilly, with the hills being faily steep, especially on the pipeline, which is a perfect natural ATV track. The 2305 has served well, but has limitations, such as you can tilt the bucket or raise the bucket, but you can't do both at the same time.
So, I want to get something bigger to do some clearing, to drag logs, mow the pipeline, possibly do a little farming or feed plotting, leveling in some areas , etc. I want to stay with JD and was looking at the 3038E but then realized it can't use a backhoe. I'm not sure why a backhoe isn't compatible, and I won't get a backhoe immediately, but I want the option for the future. So now I'm looking at the 3520. It looks to be everything I want but I have some newbie questions.
1. Do the 3520 have the particulate filter? If so, what year did they start doing that?
2. What is the difference between Independent control valves and Selective control valve?
3. How much does a grapple cost? I like the idea of cleaning up the place by grabbing a pile of sticks with a grapple.
4. Is there a "blue book" value for 2305 tractors with a loader, box blade and mower? (I want to upgrade all 3 to bigger)
5. Does the 3520 sound like the right machine to you?
