Ok guys, I have posted on here a few times regarding the problems i was/am still having with my ASV RC-100

I am looking to trade it in and get another machine, not new, but low hours and as new as my budget will allow.

I am looking at the Bobcat T770 with their mulching head.

Anybody got pluses and minuses on this machine and mulching head?

What machine/head would you get if you were getting a new one tomorrow?

Thanks guys for your input

Don't get the Bobcat head. It's a good head made by Fecon, but they have you with the teeth. The teeth are made by Fecon, but only available through Bobcat. They cost double what Fecon teeth cost. Also, you have that expensive electrical hookup that gets torn off on the Bobcat head. Get a Fecon head, your Bobcat dealer should be able to order.

Thanks, that's the kind of info I need to know. I'm also not sure about the carbide teeth, I think I'd rather have the cutter/shredder teeth, but I've never used the carbide teeth. I'm mulching smaller trees and vegetation, no rocks or anything. What type teeth yall think are better

They both have their place. We run carbides most of the time because we have lots of rocks. If we are in larger material we will put 10 knives in the middle of the drum.

I would look at multiple brands. A large right of way contractor up here is in the middle of changing his fleet over to Cat 299D XHP machines after running long demos of multiple brands.

We switched over to the 299DXHP's last fall, and have been pleased.

I'm also very interested in this thread as a very good client of mine is looking at getting his own mulcher which is not a problem for me cause I have moved out of his area of work. At the moment his consideration is which the best CTL/mulcher combo out in the paddock and at the moment not necessarily to do with agents, colours or dollars.

I've had the cat 299D XHP's since they became available. Been very happy with them.
