Getting a copy of my DD214 online for Home Depot 10% veterans discount

Dad has his NAVPERS (Naval Personnel) discharge documents and WWII service documents but it was worthless trying to explain he predated DD-214.

Sorry that you are having this problem, especially over a .10 percent discount. Might be worth it though to put in a call to the regional HR director, sounds like the local folks have a bit of "tunnel vision" while it comes to protecting the purse strings. I have seen similar behavior when someone is presented with a dependant or retiree credentials. In those cases a simple call to higher resolved any issues.

I have a VA card I can usually show. I was at a Waffle House once and just told the woman I was there for a VA appt. She told me I could get a discount. Only time I ever used it.

Provided the area offers exemptions and a record is on file with the clerk's office to begin with. Mine doesn't but I have 214's on record in two offices in Ky. Currently only disabled veterans receive a tax break on par with retires aged 65?

I was handed my DD-214 when I got home from Vietnam and was separated from military service. Didn't everyone get one when they got out of the military? Don't understand how you'd get along without one, seems like everyone asks for a copy. I've made multiple copies of my original to hand to those agencies who want to see it. Plus I see mine is "recorded" at the County Clerk's office.

The problem is for those say discharged right after WWII predate DD-214.

Dad is gone now but always one not to miss a chance to save a little... 10% off is like no sales tax.

But unlike Lowes they wanted a copy of my DD214. Lowes had it all set up online and confirmed military service differently. But all my paperwork was down in Mississippi and I couldn't get to it. And since I got out so long ago (1978) they didn't have my record online.
So on 11/11/21 I submitted a request at NARA | e-Vetrecs ..

It seems like few read the early posts.
MY DD214 was filed in my house in Mississippi. I've been in Northern Virginia since before 11/11/21, and look to be here for another 2 months for cataract surgery and follow up.
The link I gave takes one direct to where you request records.
The point of this thread was that's it's easy to get a copy of your record, it just takes a while.
And it's free.
