Would like to hear from anyone who has had land cleared in North Georgia around Blairsville. I am going up in August 2010 and would like to have 5 acres cleared. The land has 3 to 5 foot trees on it and high brush, etc. From a cost estimate is it better to use heavy equipt. like bulldozer as compare to front end loader, tractor.

Welcome to the forum Robert. For trees that small I would look for a mulching company that comes through and grinds it all into chips. The advantage is that you don't disturb the top soil and you are adding material that will compost and improve the soil.

Try posting your question in the "Land Clearing" forum. There are several mulching contractor that hang out there and may be able to help.

A heavy breaking disk could be what you are looking for. Cuts up the brush and stumps and turns over the soil so it can be worked. Needs big HP to pull.
