I have a Briggs 01679 standby generator using a 570 v-twin motor # 354447 0122-e1. Speed wanders and sometimes backfires. This runs on propane. Anyone have a service manual / parts list for the fuel system ?:confused2:

I think my ex GFs mother has one of those. When I was there in the spring, it was out of service and has a speed control issue. Start, rev up and then would shut down, showing overspeed.

Curious if they have some common issue.

Doesn't stall. I'm thinking deteriorated carburator gasket(s) + ??? Documentation might save me some grief. Unit is likely 15 yrs old or more.

Could be bad ignition or an air leak causing too lean condition. I'd start with a new spark plug and check the carb manifold gasket by squirting oil on it while running.

spark plugs and coils are fine. I'm going to take the carb off and take a look at everything. No doubt the gaskets are likely dry rotted.

It's not like it's a gasoline related issue. What governs speed on those?
