I JUST PURCHASED A CK30 WITH LOADER AND BACKHOE, NEVER OWNED A TRACTOR BEFORE. FIRST QUESTION, DO I PUT THE TRACTOR IN NEUTRAL WHEN USING THE BACKHOE. IS A TOOTHBAR FOR THE BUCKET USED TO PICKUP ROCKS OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE OUT THERE FOR ROCKS. MY FIELD IS FULL OF ROCKS AND I NEED SOMETHING THAT WILL GET THE JOB DONE. WHERE CAN I GET A SERVICE MANUAL.

First, welcome to TBN. Second, please don't use all caps. It is considered shouting on the internet, and is harder to read! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Just use the caps for emphasis.

It will also help if you fill out your profile, click on My Home at the top of the page, then on personal settings and fill out the info.

Is your CK30 HST? If so, it's not necessary to put it in neutral, but for safety, it should be. If it's gear, your range, shuttle or gears should be in neutral so that you don't get any surprises.

The brakes should also be locked down tightly in park.

A toothbar is used for a multitude of things. It will help you to dig out rocks, and to get them into the bucket, but to get large ones out, you may have to use the backhoe to dig them out, and then the toothbar to help you get them into the loader if they're not too large and heavy for the loader's capacity.

If they are really large, you may be able to fashion a drag, something you can put the rocks on or into and then drag them with the tractor. An old car hood is pretty good for that. Just fashion it so that you can hook up a chain to it with a little frontal lift when pulling, it will slide across the ground.

A service manual can be ordered from your tractor dealer. Get the parts and service manuals for best results.

Also, be sure to read your entire owner's manual. There is a lot of useful information in there.

Here is one way to move rocks (although I think it might be less desctuctive to the driveway with the car hood /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

I move rocks all the time so let me know what size you are talking about.

If you really mean "how do I harvest rocks" there are a few rock buckets you can buy that will skim the ground and collect the rocks for you. I've never worked one but if you search TBN you should find some pictures.

Good luck!

BE SURE TO READ THE SAFETY SECTION in tractorbynet!!!

If you've never had a tractor before, be very careful! They can turn over in places you might think they can't. Wear your seat belt!

Accidents on tractors can happen very quickly, much quicker than you think.
