Don't use my tractor much. 7 years old and has about 1k hours. 300 is the "recommended change interval"and it was built in Korea and apparently they have a lot of rice country there with the accompanying equipment hazard potential. The tractors in their ads even come stock with rice R1s......deep lugs, like was in my 6530 ad when I bought it.
It's had little REAL work. I'm the only operator and I am careful. Texas location, keep it shedded, if I crank it up I always run it till it gets warmed up good. Considering all I said and all that I put off the scheduled fluid changes other than engine oil. I realize that owner's manuals and specs contained in there for fluid/filter changes are suited to satisfy the harshest environment, operated by anybody, in any instance, anywhere in the world...kind of a CYA SWAG thing. Not long ago I decided to change the oil in the front axle and main sump. About half way through it's life I did install a new oil filter however.
Since I have wet brakes, hydro steering, shuttle shifter, electric PTO and all that creature comfort stuff my spec. was for the orange dyed fluid, the premium stuff.....like J20C calls for and a couple of dozen other mfgrs. in all the colors including Kabota UTD and Cat TO-2 fluid. Went with the Warren mfgr'd Lubriguard Premium that Attwoods carries for a good price in the convenient 2 gal. container.
I don't remember what it was like when the tractor was new but somewhat lately I had been having gear whine at the upper rpms under load. Thought about it and figured just what it takes to get the work to the implement not remembering if it was there back then or not.
After changing the fluid and filter, the whine is gone, completely.
So, if any of you guys and gals have an annoying gear whine, a premium fluid may be your answer and that's the purpose of this posting, not for any advice concerning my maintenance habits performed on my equipment which will be around long after I'm pushing up daisies!
