Had a DA day yesterday doing simple maintenance on my tractor. Changed the oil and ait filter along with the oil. Started out normal but got sidetracked after my wife said I was out of beer. First mistake was after draining oil and inserting new oil filter I pourd in new oil-got half way through the 3 quart canister when I realized I forgot to replace the oil plug. Cant do anything with the oil that came out because it got mixed in with the old oil. After replaceing the plug-I started to poor more into the engine but somehow an airpocket got into the canister and oil blew out of the canister and all over the front of the engine.

Had to clean as much oil out of the nooks and crannys on the engine block and front flywheel as well as the concrete floor. I forgot about one thing.....until I turned the engine on.

Oil got into the crack below the flywheel and as soon as the engine started-it splattered oil all over the hood, engine and garage.

Moral of the story here-

Make sure you have plenty of beer for the job.

and
yes

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed.

What I noted was you were half way thru the 3rd quart when total oil capacity is 2.7 quarts.

You must have a big oil catch pan :)

And . . don't you maintain a backup emergency beer supply :)

:laughing: I was going to say that's a Mainiac thing-- but I've been there, too!

LOL, I need to start brewing my own beer.

I also left out my drain plug when I went to refill on my first service...I didn't get as far in as you, only about a half quart, but I think that was only because I moved my catch pan, so the puddle of oil that was forming was easier to notice!

well...it is better to find out while your pouring the oil in rather than when using it to find the motor burns up because of no oil.....I bet we all have done that in one form or another...
