I have a GC2400 with the factory installed hydraulic joystick. The tractor is a 2008 but the joystick was never used. I hooked it up to my new 2340 plow and it keeps popping out of float. I have to hold the lever forward all the time to keep it in the float position. On my Dad's 2300 the lever clicks forward and stays there till it is removed. Has anyone experienced this on the 2400 and how did you resolve it?

Thanks,
Jeremy

The lever on mine does not stay forward, but I believe the valve stays in the float mode, until the joy stick is moved again.

Same way it worked on my 1533, to take it out of float you had to pull back to lift.
jeremyfxdwg... Saying that it was never used... I would take wd40 and give all the pistons that can be seen coming from the valve body a spray, then move the stick in all positions. I would bet you have some dirt and or rust on the pistol that controls up/down and float and it isn't going all the way to keep it in float. Also make sure your linkage is all tight, a bolt lose in the linkage to piston could stop full travel as well. Just a thought, sure wont hurt to give both a try.

If the control valve is the same on the GC 2300 here's what you need to do_On the back side of the valve body remove the 2 screws that hold the detent end cap on.I believe its the one further away from the tractor,It'll be the longer cap.Check to see if you have any dirt rust etc: inside the cap.Once you have the cap off take it apart it comes apart fairly easy.Clean everything up thats in the cap. There's a small cir clip/spring clip what ever you want to call it.This is usually what the problem is.If you take a pair of pliers and squeze the clip together just a bit it'll solve your problem of the joystick popping out of float. Its a very simple fix.Larry

jeremyfxdwg-- here's some pics of the innards of the detent mechanism.

Fixed Wing, huh?

Thanks for the replies guys....

I will have to crawl under there an lube everything... that is a good idea. It also never occurred to me that it may stay in float even though the lever is not locked forward. I will have to look into that.

Thanks for the pictures... I actually saw the whole thread discussing those pictures however the valve on the 2300 is up on top of the "pedestal" while the valve on the 2400 seems to be under the floorboards and controlled by cables. I will have to take the pictures and see if the valve actually functions the same however.

I had the same problem. Open up the plastic cover under the joystick by removing a few screws. You can adjust the cabel that controls the float postition. It only took a turn or two to get mine working correctly. This is a 5 minute adjustment.
