GC23xx Brush Cutter questions

Hi all,

I am looking at the King Kutter and the Kodiak. These choices are due to quality, TBN posts, and price.

The local TSC has the 48" KK for $588. A local dealer has the Kodiak 40" for $700 and the 48" for $750.

Size is of no concern as I will not be mowing open fields, just cleaning and maintaining brush in and around the woods/trails.

What are other GC owners using?

Would the 40" be a better fit for the GC?

I'm not a GC2300 owner but I looked at a Woods 42" (RCC42)rotary cutter at a Massey dealership. The salesman recommends this cutter to his GC2300 customers. His price was $879.

King Kutter has a series of implements designated as XB especially sized for sub-compacts such as yours, the Kubota BX series, the John Deere 2210, etc. Woods and Frontier also offer equipment especially sized for sub-compacts.

I would not recommend using just "standard" Category I implements since there can be issues (often discussed on this board) related to geometry of the draft links and top links, maximum lift height attainable, and implement weight.

My recommendation is to carefully look at the implements made for sub-compacts before making any decisions. All can be found on the Web under KK, Woods, John Deere (Frontier), and maybe some others.

Hi,

I have researched most of the brands. I have come down to the above mentioned cutters. The GC will handle the 48" cutters quite well as I have read and been told. The KK XB series seems to be too lightly made for my taste. BH and Woods are great, but out of my price range.

Thoughts and/or experiences from any GC'ers?
