GC2310 wood chipper.

I'm considering purchasing a Jinma Model 6 Wood Chipper. Has anyone had any experiences with these? Will the 2310 have enough power to run a chipper at all? Having never tried to engage the PTO without being seated does the tractor have tis capability?

I'm not familiar with the Jinma chippers, but I have an old WW Grinder, Super Apache chipper (3-4" max) that works fine on my 2310. I can engage the PTO standing beside the chipper. However, I'd suggest starting with the RPMs low because it engages with a snap, then you can increase the RPMs to whatever you need. I usually run the engine at ~ 2,600 when chipping.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can't get the PTO engaged with out some one on the seat. I have tried having both the mid and rear PTO in neutral, then engage the drive.. The kill switch gets activated no matter what combinations I try?

If your 2310 is like my 790, you tip the seat forward and raise the plunger/seat switch.

Or, you can bypass the safety switch with a jumper wire and then it also won't shut off the engine if you lift your butt out of the seat when it's in gear.

Of course, defeating such an essential safety item would also subject you to the wrath of the safety police if you ever admitted to it on this forum.

Or so I hear....

I wouldn't know anything about how easy it is to do, either.

That is why we bypassed ours, with a jumper.

Problem (for us anyway, may be good for others.) solved.

I have a clone of that chipper. Once you check all the adjustments and tightness of the fasteners, the heavy flywheel is the only problem you will have. It kills my 2310's engine when I engage the PTO no matter what RPM it's running at. The problem is, you can't sneak up on engaging the PTO, it goes from completely off to completely on. So, I rev it up and engage briefly, briefly again, and then on. I hate doing it, it has to put some banging on the parts, so once it's running, I leave it engaged until I'm done chipping.
It makes chips real good!

I have the same problem with my 1533 if someone isn't sitting on the seat it shuts down.
So, I set the seat to the lightest adjustment for wieght and put a fair sized hunk of wood on it and away it goes.

Works great, if i need to shut it down fast i can knock the wood off and I never forget to reattach the safety device.

That's why we tipped our seat forward and pulled UP on our seat switch.
