GC2300 quit running and won't start

Find one of these and if you use it, you won't have dirt or water in your tank. I used a lot of fuel filters before I found one and if I use it everytime I fuel, I don't have to change filters. Be sure and add your additive to the tractor tank, I have been told that the filter will separate out the additive if you put it in your fuel storage cans.

The test I mentioned with WD-40 into the air intake, would have confirmed this.

Usually work on an injector pump is pricey. I can't help but wonder if it is necessary for them to work on it.

I don't think I'd be spraying flamable liquid into a tractor intake that has less than 100 hours on it, just me though.
I would crack the lines on the pump which it sounds you did, and check for fuel. Then if no fuel, and your mechanic buddy is okay with doing it, I would take the side of the pump apart and make sure the fuel rack is moving like it should. Maybe remove all the lines & clean them too.
Yeah, don't talk warranty with the dealer on this on unless you think the techs need a good laugh. Part of any operator responsibility is to check fluids daily and know whats going in the machine.

It is a commonly used diagnostic tool. One shot is not going to hurt anything.

It's a way to temporarily (a few seconds at best) bypass the normal fuel delivery system. One "shot" of spray will give the cylinder(s) enough atomized fuel to ignite and for the engine to run briefly.

It's simply a method of determining if the problem is in the fuel delivery system or not. If it fires up after spraying (but not before), it pretty well means the engine's NOT getting any fuel through the normal system.

I concur. It's like giving a gas engine a shot of ether. Ether is not such a good idea with a diesel due to glow plugs, but WD-40 is just a really low quality oil (sorta like diesel) so you're just getting some fuel into the cylinders to see if it will run.

Starting engines is probably the only thing WD-40 is good for. It will start the hardest to start lawn mower in one pull. Set throttle to max, remove air cleaner, spray into carb, cover the intake with your hand, or use choke if available, pull the rope.

I had an Oldsmobile Cutlass diesel back in the 80's and I carried a can or 2 of WD-40 religiously! But Ray WD-40 is good for more than starting engines, it will remove a sticker from a car bumper, or whatever. Just never try to use it as penetrating oil.

My brother also had a Old diesel and he drilled a hole in the air cleaner cover and covered it with a piece of velcro so he could uncover the hole and spray directly into the air intake on his early Olds diesel. The glow plugs were junk on his and it was a fortune to fix them so if it got cold (55 degrees F) he needed to spray WD-40 to start it every time. Olds finally changed his 260 ci engine to the 350DX engine for less money than it would have cost to fix the glow plugs. He got the new fast glow plugs with the new engine!

The bottom line is I have heard of plenty of people using WD-40 as a starting aide for diesel engines and my diesel mechanic friends swear by it. Just never use ether or gasoline starting fluids on a diesel engine.
