Just bought a new GC1725. Love the tractor but the high idle speed is really rough on PTO engagement. Needing to install 3 point seeder and afraid it will break gearbox. Can the idle be turned down some or any ideas how to fix the problem? Thanks in advance.

What's the idle speed when warm?
The GC1725M I deal with is usually 1000 to 1100 rpm when fully warmed up, pretty much same as my gc2400 and the 2 gc1723 I've dealt with.

It stays at 1300 rpm which really slams the PTO when it starts.

I engage my PTO at 2K and have never notice any slamming issues. There is a wet clutch on the PTO that should be preventing this.
Which lever are you engaging first?

was just gonna post similar. if pto on then either 540 ot 2k pto engaged will slam a lot.even at idle.

I’m doing just what the manual says.

You know, it's the same in my book and never noticed that it is completely wrong.

All of the levers should be marked

1 = Rear PTO (Not Clutch) Should be marked 540
2 = PTO Clutch Lever
3 = Mid PTO Should be Marked 2000

You should move 1 or 3 to engage first and move the clutch lever 2.

I would send a picture of the levers but it currently pouring rain.

I’ve wondered if that’s a possibility. Thanks for the info. I’ll try it out.
