3-Point Hitch GC1720 3-point hitch will not raise (it is not locked)

Today was the first time I removed the backhoe (that was easy) and I was going to use the 3-point hitch. I lowered the 3-point hitch and connected my auger. After I connected it the 3-point hitch won't raise (it is currently as low as it can go). It was locked initially but I unlocked it to lower the hitch but now it won't raise. I disconnected the auger and the 3-point still won't raise up. The GC1720 is brand-new (got it last month). I did add a quart of hydro fluid and the window is still showing low but when I crank it the level goes to the middle between low and full. Could the hydro fluid level be the issue? I never checked it before today because I couldn't see the window with the backhoe installed.

Not sure what the problem is.

I would not bet on the fluid fluid level being the problem, there is more fluid in there, than the system needs.

However, it should show in the window, when it is level, and not running.

How about checking the linkage, see if it is moving the shaft at the transmission fully?

Same thing happened to me not long ago. I was bummed. Was getting ready to tear things apart and decided to check the hose connections. I had mistakenly hooked up the bypass hoses even though i have done this at least a hundred times. Switched a couple hoses and back to normal.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the 3rd hose.

The 1st generation machines like mine, only have 2.

If you plugged in your BH, by disconnected the 3pt input, then you have no flow to the 3pt.

If your auger is plugged into the 3pt inpu those, then you have no 3pt.

Does your auger have it's own valve, and does it have two hoses.

If you had a BH with three hoses, you could plug in the BH and also have 3pt.

Where did you put the BH return hose.

It has 3 hoses. They are just hanging out of the way. I didn't connect any of them together. If 2 of the hoses need to be connected together which colors need to be connected. All 3 hoses have a different color. I didn't see anywhere in the manual that stated that they need to be connected together.

There is no linkage. It looks as if the 3-point raise/lower lever activates a switch directly below the lever. I did rotate the speed knob all the way to fast and then I backed it off about a 1/2 turn.

Cool. Problem solved?

Mine only has 2 hoses, and you must connect them, when removing the backhoe, to allow the oil to circulate, and prevent damage to the pump.

So, even if this doesn't fix your problem, your owners manual likely has the same stipulation.
