Having read a lot of posts here and done some looking at dealers, I have decided I want a small TLB and I like the GC 2310 over the BX 23. What is a good price? I have been quoted $15,200 by the local dealer, which includes the $750 rebate.

That is a good price. We paid $15,600 for our GC2310 with the bar tires and 12 inch wide hoe bucket. Really like the machine. Just used it today to clean off the ice and snow from the driveway.

$15,200 sounds like a good price, it must be a 2004 year model.
Okay, I know what some of you are thinking, here he goes again with the year model stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've seen the price of a 2005 as much as $18,000. So, you may be asking yourself, what's the difference between a 2004 and a 2005?

The 2005 has a tachometer, the exhaust is ported to the right, it has a higher back seat, and the rear warning lights are mounted higher. The 2005 FEL for it comes with a joy stick cover and the grill guard doesn't have to be moved in order to open the hood. Plus it has the letters "MF" cut into it.

Other than that, there's not much difference. Now, if you find that you can live without those difference, but would like to have the tach so that you will know you are maintaining the proper RPM's to operate the FEL and BH, in earlier posts you will find info on where you can buy a fairly simple to add on tachometer and how to add a 1-1/4 copper street ell to redirect the exhaust so that it doesn't darken the paint on your loader or assist in increasing the hydro temp.

Merry Christmas or whatever you individually celebrate this time of the year, and as always, happy tractoring!

Snow?

We had some of that last Christmas Eve and it really made it seem like Christmas. From reports, the last time it did that here was 110 years ago. Of course we also had the most wicked hurricane season ever too.

But, it was really odd seeing snow all over the beach. LOL

Historically, we may get a few flakes about every 10-15 years, but nothing that last too long on the ground.

It's in the mid 70's today so I think I will go out and play......er,
I mean work. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mine is a 2005 (tach and all), with a 60" MMM and turf tires. $17,000 delivered to my house. I'm really happy with it so far.

That's great Todd, I hope it gives you many years of enjoyable service. When I responded to your first post I didn't even notice the date of the post, which was in November.

Of the various tractors available on the market, what made you choose Massey Ferguson?

I wanted a backhoe, and the price jumps a lot if you go up in size from the BX-23 and the GC-2310. These tractors are plenty big enough for what I have planned, plus the majority of the time it will be used as a mower, so the smaller size is a plus for that use. I liked the fit and finish and the ergonomics of the Massey better than the Kubota, but both are fine machines. I think the changes on the BX-24 will address most of the details I didn't like on the Kubota, but I didn't want to wait around for it to come out. Both were the same price.

Our 2004 GC2310 is "tachless". I find the FEL and Hoe work fine at the low speed. If I need a little more lifting power - a little increase in throttle seems to do the trick. The toothbar on the FEL really makes digging easier.

I have read many posts where opinions have been expressed about who makes the best tractor, etc. Everyone has based their opinion on what seems to work the best for them. I believe that if you are happy with your selection, then you have made the right choice and yours is the best for you.

Now, on another note.....

After a lot of rain about a week or so ago I have an area on my property that always ponds water, which just happens to be really close to an area that I had been tilling for future planting.

I recently bought a middle buster plow and thought that I could dig a trench with the plow and drain off some if not all of the water.

What I managed to do is bog my tractor down to the axels. LOL

I have what is called gumbo mud on my property and once the tread on the AG tires filled with mud, I couldn't do anything except spin my wheels. LOL

Thank goodness my neighbor has a bigger MF and was able to come to my rescue because my little Sears DGT 6000 with AG tires just didn't have what it takes.

The Sears works well for mowing the lawn, but it doesn't do too well with pulling a 1300 plus pound tractor that is axel deep in mud.
