thought i had a dog on my hands....wouldn't pull hills good and wouldn't spin the tires....pull the belt off and measured it was 30.2mm....manual says 29mm replace it.....so i went and bought a new 1....it's 34.6mm...old belt was about a belt thickness longer than the new 1....only had 116 hours on it!!.....i think i found what happened to the belt....i tryed to adjust the parkin' brake and the rod bottomed out and just barely had any brake...pads where gone!!!.....so i think the though owners(drank a few beers when gatorin'!!) left the parkin' brake on and smoked the belt and the pads...

accually when the belt wears down you will get more low end meaning you will get more power and you will loose yop end meaning speed so you should have been able to take the hills with the power have you been cleaning the plugs and air cleaner?

i think the belts biggest problem was that it was stretched bad...it shuttered bad from belt slip i think.....plugs and filter are good...

how many hours you had on it? i get about 400 out of my belts on my hpx i went through two so far well i'm still on my second one i'm about to hit like 750 hours . i haul alot of cement with it plus batteries too itgets maxed out with a 1000lbs easy about 4 times a week .is your new belt workin better ?you know your supose to have that clutch that acomitaes for belt wear and tear so you might have more wrong then just a belt you clutch might not be working corectly it's supose to adjust for longer belt life atleast i think so.

only had 118 hours on it....i pull a trailer that is 4'x8'x2' full of split wood and the bed full too(about a 1/2 a cord of hardwood).....had 85 hours on it when i got it....it done it from day 1......it pulls great now....couldn't hardly get up the drive(1/8 mile long at about 7% grade)in low gear plus diff-lock and 4x4!!!.....now it pulls the same load in low 2x4 w/o diff-lock....it's like a whole another machine!!!!

sorry for the crapy pic..

that belt was brand new and that trailer is a piece of cake for that gator you might wanna check into that clutch i pull a 16'double axle trailer with at one tone it had i'm thinkin back it might have been around 5k-lbs on it it bent ly reciever down about 2 "when i hooked it up and my hpx pulled it through i think it was 6" of slushy mud with no problem so your deisel should walk cricles arould my old 04 gaser. try snooping around the engine and check things out maybe someone els might know i know someone els in here has a deisel they might have an idea but that belt shoulda been still good i don't know whats the measurements they go by for when they say you should replec them.

some reason i was thinkin you had a deisel .but you still got a new belt it shouldn't have went out that fast.that guy must have really ran that brake bad. like you say she's pullin now so i guess the pads will go next being he heated them up pretty good did you ever check them out? mine didn't last long in the mud i had to change them out after 300 hours i'm still on my second set cause i retired her from mud riding.

changed the pads...3 clicks on a good hill loaded and it holds......yes the new belt made a night & day differance in how it pulls...and no slippin'!!....i'm thinkin' about some mudlite 26's...

the mudlites are nice i have the mudlite xl's on my rhino and the 589's on my hpx . i would stay with the 26"or under though.you'll get rubbing with the 27's i know i cracked both front fenders sliding into a ditch and tree one rainy day.still haven't fixed them yet.i need to front fenders and the headlight sockets and one headlight . in about a month i'm gonna take her out of comission and have all the work done to her and get her fixed up.
