I have found that doing your own walk around on a moonlit night or rainy day is a good exercise: how would you steal from your own property?
That is a good point. A few months ago I locked my keys in my shop, so I had to break in. I learned 2 important things: Nobody around cares how much noise I make in the process, and it only took me ~2 minutes to pop out a window and open the roll up door. I never thought it could be that easy.
I added a set of five heavy duty padlocks to the door the next day...
