Gas verses Diesel

Thanks for all the insight. I prefer a gas engine but had been thinking it might be time to switch to diesel. The 4wd unit is driving the task. And, I don't want a dually. I'd like to purchase something older than newer to keep the cost down. I don't tow daily, but do drive to work 35 miles one way each day so I was thinking diesel might help reduce some of the fuel expense. I do have a 2200 lb trailer and two Kubotas that weigh about 2000 lbs each that I need tote around from time to time. I prefer Chevy 4wd solid axle or live axle front axles based on personal experiences with both. Since I don't think it's going to be easy to find an older single rear wheel crew cab 4wd gas engine or diesel I thought I do some home work with your help so I'd be prepared to amke a good decision when something popped up.
