Tom has a great idea there for you. I got a nice 100 gallon tank absolutely free recently to use for diesel at my barn for the tractor. It was a take-off from a UPS truck. The dealer where I got it had dozens of them and they were being replaced for one reason and one reason only-they had some surface rust by the straps.

UPS is very particular about their vehicles and always has been. This is a regular thing with them from what I understand. If you have a terminal near you (and almost everybody does) you might want to check either with them or with the dealer who services their trucks.

I'm sure you can find aluminum tanks off big trucks at salvage yards up to 300 gallons. That would solve any potential rust problem but I doubt you'll find one for free.

The applicable design standards are maintained (in the US) by the American Yacht and Boat Council (AYBC)

Gasoline boat fuel system standards.

I also had a taiwanese sailboat and it had three tanks, two of which were "black iron" and one (in the bilge) was fiberglass.

The port side iron tank eventually rusted out at the bottom seam (probably from the inside) It was impractical to remove it, and impossible to remove it intact so we just lived without it because the remaining tankage was ample.
