Best thing to do is use Sta-bil Marine formula. Its a 20oz or so bottle for $10 but treats 80 gallons. I have been in the boat and small engine light maintenance world for 20 years and its the best thing I have found. The red Sta-bil just does not cut it anymore.

I have taken to using the Marine Stabil also. Whenever I purchase any gas at all in jugs, the first thing I do is give it a dose. My generator sat a year with gas and marine stabil in it and it had no problems starting when I needed it not long ago. Although it definitely ran smoother once the old gas ran out and a new fresh tank was added. However, I wish I could buy some for $10. I could only find it at Napa and it was almost $1/ounce if I remember correctly:confused2:
