Knowing your acreage requirement would better tune the responses.

I dug up my garlic patch yesterday...around 200 bulbs. These should last us 'til next summer. In another month or so, I'll be planting next year's garlic crop, using maybe 30-40 of this year's best bulbs.
The temp got down to 4 C last night, so first frost can't be too far off (this is 'way early, though...where is global warming when you need it?).

I'll be planting mine again soon, too... I dig mine a little at a time, as we need it, then finally dig what's left... I just don't take the time to dig it all at once...like I SHOULD!

My garlic was started by my dad about 50 years ago, so the varieties are now all mixed up and I "for the most part" can't tell one from the other, no matter, it's just for the family anyway and no one complains... lol

I've thought about buying some certain variety and get it started again, but why bother?

September is when we plant for the winter crop. August is drought time.
