garden plowing

Which tractor would be more suitable for plowing a garden with a brinley plow.
A allis chalmers 712S tractor or a cub cadet 1215 tractor.I would get Ag tires for better traction.Both tractors have 12 hp motors. Any help appreciated

Either would probably be fine with the ag tires. I think the Cubs are known for hefty rear ends. Adding weight and ribbed tires to the front will also help keep the front end in the furrow.

I have an Economy Jim Dandy thats about the same size it pulls the brinly plow just fine.

The Cub 1215 is a lawn tractor only, not a garden tractor, so plowing is probably too much for it. It has a much weaker transaxle in than a garden tractor. Now if you had a Cub cadet 1200, 1210 or 1250 model, these are tough garden tractors.

Even with ag tires, a 1215 isn't going to do this long before failing. It was designed for lawn duty and light work, no high drawbar loads. Not sure about the Simplicity.

The Simplicity 712S is a garden tractor. If you go to the Simple Tractors website you can get alot of information on them.

We use our Cub Cadet 1215 for plowing snow. It will push alot of snow! They are good little tractors. We put a 10 horse in it because we bought it without an engine, and it works fine for plowing alot of snow, we have never tried to put a single bottom moldboard plow on it though, you might have to weld supports on the back of the tractor to strengthen the hitch, it is a light duty hitch.

I see this is a old thread. but im new

older cubs rule!! if it has a cast iron rear end under it. (IH built)
and 12 to 16hp. stack the wheel weights on , ag tires & chains and let-r-rip
