The crane pole worked better then most of us thought. Was it safe, probably not, did it work....yep. Would I use it again for something similar... absolutely. The tractor was solid, the first thing came to mind was to put counter balance weight in the bucket, but after a few test runs it was fine. I think since the pole was fairly close to vertical most of the weight was put on the 3pt. Now if I had that pole closer to a 45' angle it may be a whole different story.
I used the FEL to put the upper trusses in place then turned around and used the pole - 3pt to lift them. I didn't want to take the chance moving around with alot of weight hanging from the pole. Plus, I used a General Purpose 3k winch, they say you are not supposed to use them for hoisting. It seemed to work fine but we didn't trust walking under neath of it.
Building is 30x36, 14' eave and 19' peak. I didn't realize how tall it was going to be until I started putting this up. My main concern was is the bay garage door going to be tall enough to bring the tractor in with out folding down the ROPS. But after seeing it up, it doesn't appear to be a problem.
