Gaining oil

Gaining an inch per hour on the dipstick is a lot. It will smell like diesel if it is diesel, in my experience.

Problem fixed. Took the injector pump apart a second time and hand polished the needles and seats with 4000 grit polishing compound with a little diesel to make it wet and replaced the top springs and that fixed it. Probably ran it 8 hours and it's sill right on the full mark on the engine oil dip stick. Starts and runs great. Thanks for all the suggestions
