My starter recently shelled out. The repair place took it apart and all the plastic gears inside have turned to powder. The entire mechanism was moving back and forth and shorting out as well. The tractor is a 2013 model and has 320 hours on it. The dealer whats $400 plus shipping. I don't know if I want to pay that much for the same POJ. The dealer said this is only the second starter he has had go out and the other one was a solenoid. Has anyone else had troubles with the starter?
Would you trust the factory replacement?
Does anyone know of an aftermarket source? The repair place said they can't find one.
The repair place I took it to is actually a custom fabricator. He said he can make one for me that would last 20 years or better for around $450 but I don't know, its a pretty tight fit.
Any help would be appreciated
