Just a heads up guys (and girls). I have an 08 model L3940 with 170 hours on it. Got on it to bush-hog last Sat. and noticed a shudder in the hydraulics, power steering and FEL, most noticable at idle. When revved up it went away. Went on and did some work only to find about an hour later when I shut down I had very little steering left and FEL was super sluggish. After research which included a visit here, I checked the suction hose on the pump. It was cracked and leaking air. Of course my dealer didn't have one so a trip to the auto parts store saved the day. Picked up about 2 feet of 1 inch hyd hose and she runs like new again. This looks like it may be a recurring problem (why I bought extra length). Keep some handy in the tool box for in the field repairs. The tractor is kept in a shed out of the sun but I guess dry rot cannot be avoided.
