I replaced my 2155 tractor fluid & Filter after removing / repairing the my Rocker Shaft problem (Arms would not lower - Broken load spring and bent load link missing "C" clips). The fluid looked really good, but I was suspicious of the NAPA fluid. I bought the tractor used and replaced the fluids with NAPA tractor Oil about 10 years ago. Originally, when turning the steering wheel right or left, the steering column would make a noise like, "you have a some time before you have to rebuild me sound." I replaced the fluid and same sound. Well, after this recent fluid change to HYGARD low vis ( I live in AK) the noise went away! I did not want to spend the extra money originally, but I learned that NAPA had a class action law suit with their fluid. As I began to learn more about hydraulic fluids after getting a fork lift and excavator, I learned there are very loose standards on fluids. In AK the price difference was not so much more for the Hygard and I want this tractor to last. I use AMSOIL for my vehicles, boat etc, but it is too expensive, at least I'm thinking it is. I replaced my excavator fluid with NAPA AW ISO 32 purchased on sale for $90/5gal this winter. I was thinking NAPA should have cleaned up their act. Anyway.. I will run this for awhile and then either go with Kubota or Amsoil. The KX57 takes about 15 gallons it adds up, but...cheap fix if it is supiror to NAPA or sub grade fluids. I am learning about equipment so I was interested to learn other's opinion on fluid and share my recent experience. BTW my mini ex after replacing all the filters and fluids performed at 1600RPMs like it did with the fluid when I bought it used at 18 1900 RPMs. The return filter was nasty and very hard to remove. I'm thinking previous owner did not replace.
