I was inquiring about a 5505d tractor and the dealer said they were discontinued? I'm thinking maybe new models or a refresh, but discontinued?

Anyone heard the status of the 5 series tractors, i.e. 5045, 5055, etc?

Thanks!
Bill

I am not sure but I will say I know one of my local dealers has had what appears to be the same 5055e, 5065e, and 5075e now for over a year on the lot. I see them around so I know people are buying them but I get the feeling they are not as popular as they may have hoped. I don't think moving the 5000 series to India was a smart move especially since there has been QA issues. I know when the 200 Series skid steers first came out Deere had all kinds of QA issues and if memory servers me right they where made in Tennessee. They quickly moved them to another state and made all kinds of changes to them. Not saying Deere will move out of India because they do have cheap labor there. I would not be surprised if they make allot of changes to the new model and it cost allot more especially because of Tier4. Could the smaller 5000 series get a Yanmar?? I would move them back to Augusta GA.

The Pune India factory has been making 5000 series tractors sense 1999. They of course have had some QA issues as have Toyota and GM. The question is " Where do they make a better tractor"
Perhaps better said "Where does anybody make a better tractor?"

I'd have thought a value-line larger framed tractor without bells & whistles would have been a good niche to be in... I wonder if consumers are going for more features/bells & whistles? There must be data on how their sales compared with production & forecasts...

Quality... We have two Hoyt Windsor dryers at work; American company, rugged, dependable machines... you'd need spindles & bearings (rarely), belts, timers, and occasionally a motor. As rugged a machine as could be. Close to bulletproof... didn't put out new product lines: nothing wrong with what they made! Hoyt went out of business, and now you can no longer get parts reliably. No one ever bought another, because the first one never was scrap.

Sad to say, but the best interests of large manufacturers with shareholders (profits) and consumers are somewhat at odds with one another when it comes to long-term reliability. You have to have products moving. I have no idea about the 5 series history, but in nearly every segment of goods it seems the useful life of items is a consideration for the manufacturing process, and serviceability seems to be getting eliminated.

Are you talking about 5000 series they use in there country? I can tell you up to the 5025 series are made in August Georgia. You can look it up on tractor data. I have used a 5400 and a 5310 that where both made in Georgia. The 5003 series where made in India starting in 2003 according to tractor data. All I am saying was when they where made in Georgia the QA was much much better. The design goes back to 1992 just hood and a few other things have been changed.

The 5 series I am speaking of are the present, built in India, 5045, 5055, d and e models.

I spoke with another dealer today a nd the sales guy there knew nothing of any discontinuation of these models.

But I have to believe that intercoolers, full-up electronic/computerized tractors with after treatment systems of these hp ranges is coming and the end of a simple tractor that a back yard mechanic can service/repair is coming. IMHO - I think there will be some new models that are upgrades to what is being offered today to meet final tier 4 requirements vs a discontinuing of the 5 series tractors from India. Probably rolled up in the 2015 rear models.

I knew which models you where talking about. I was asking what models that vtsnowedin was talking about in the 5000 series that where made in India since 1999. I have a 5055E tractor. Your are correct it is a very simple and beefy built tractor. Just QA could have been much better is my complaint.
