Keegs...I know exactly what you mean about retirement investing. Nobody is out there to teach you when you need the knowledge the most. Here's one set of forums I look at almost every day. Just like TBN. And it's community/cast of characters, (of which I am a part), are as familiar to me as TBN. A lot of collective wisdom about retirement, the mindset, investing/preparing for retirement. The main forum is here...

I took a welding class with a buddy of mine at the local community college shortly after graduating and beginning my 'real' job. We were hoping to learn enough to build a big grill/smoker to put on a trailer. We finished the class, but I got laid off and had to move shortly afterwards, so we never got that project off the ground. It was a good time though and I enjoyed learning something just for the sake of learning vs. the previous 4 years of trying to keep my grades up and graduate to find a job.

I've talked with my wife about taking a ballroom dancing class and we were all set to do it a couple winters ago when I ruptured my achilles tendon playing basketball. We haven't found the time since then.

I had a long standing dream of working as a bartender. I got the chance about 5 years ago when my FIL and BIL bought a local bar. I tended bar there a couple nights a week for a year or so. I got a few bucks in my pocket and got to do something I'd always wanted to do. It was a great experience. That said, I'm glad I didn't make a career out of it, as I had planned to do in high school!

There's still a few other jobs out there I'd like to try some day...dealer at the local casino, butcher, short order cook, local delivery truck driver, maybe a few others I'm not thinking of right now.
