I know some ppl on here are using the Fumoto/Qwik Valves on their vehicles and/or tractors.. The website recommends using a hose clip to keep the valve from accidently opening if you drive over brush or something in rough conditions...

Has anyone had a trouble with the clip being knocked off or the valve coming open?

For those that have no idea what im talking about here is the website

http://www.qwikvalve.com/index.html

At about $23 they are way cheaper than the Femco valve I have on my Dodge/Cummins ($40ish)

edited to add - I do like the femcos lower profile, but it also has to have a drain tube to change the oil.. here is their website http://www.nospillsystems.com/home.htm

thanks

I have been using the Fumoto valves for years on cars, trucks, tractors and ag equipment. Never had one open up on me yet. Even my oldest one is still leak free.

Gee the Femco looks like the Fram Sure-Drain or whatever they called it a few years back. Unfortunately they had some errors in their cross reference books, many of the one million+ Powerstroke owners (me included) bought the Fram only to find it didn't fit:eek:

Did you feel the need to use the hose clip on any of your off road equipment?

thanks

I remember seeing the Fram Sure Drain in stores a few years back but I have not compared the quality to the Femco valve.

IF you still are still looking for a valve for your Powerstroke - check out GenosGarage.com they have some on their website.

I have had the Futmoto on the truck for a few years with no problems. The truck does not really go off road much. I do put a tie wrap on the valve but it is just insurance. It would be real hard for brush to open the value. It has to be pushed in and then moved at a 90 degree angle.

The valve sure makes it easy to change the oil. The Ford has to have a washer on the drain bolt. And it has be replaced if one uses the metal washer from Ford other wise it leaks. PITA. Don't have that problem with the Futmoto.

I DONT have one of the tractor. The tractor does not get the oil changed as often as the truck and the tractor is just easier to do. And the tractor is in the woods a good amount of hours so the risk of hitting the valve is higher.

I use the clip on all of them just as a safety precaution. Probably don't need them but it gives me piece of mind when I'm off road.
