I want to know if you can turn the injection pump up and changed the delivery valves if it has any on my 4200 and if there is any way to get more HP out of the engine.
i know someone will tell me its at the HP limit already but i just want to know because i have a turbo and i am going to fabricate it work on the tractor. i have already located a stack kit for the 4200 but i will run a 3" exhaust on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bless you. The 4200/4210 could use a little mojo...

Switch to synthetic oil. It'll give you 3-4% more hp and use 3-4% less fuel for the amount of power you use.

More hp is why the race car drivers use it.

If i cant turn the fuel up i am going to free up the exhaust but i am not sure how the 3 cylinder will sound with the 3" exhaust on it

One idea is to look outside of Deere. The Yanny engines show up in generators, marine, and in construction equipment. I have seen turbo versions. But sadly for you; the 3TNE84 (4310) seems to be where all the action is. This is true with the TNV series as well. The turbo versions are based on the 3TNV84.

Another angle is doing nothing. Keep it stock and try and find a deal on a 4400 or 4410. The 4200 is just too little engine for the frame size. Not that there aren't many satisfied owners. Maybe you need to find the next satisfied owner of yours and get what you wnat.

Yes, you can turn up the Fuel and get more horsepower, however you will create heat in so doing, so that may give you other problems (bigger Radiator). If you decide to go that route, pull your Injection Pump, and have it recalibrated. As far as turbocharging is concerned, we just finished a custom Turbo setup for another unit (not a 4000 Series)-it can be done if engineered correctly, but be careful-you'll need a wastegate turbo for sure, and need to limit your boost in the single digits-

Is there any web pages that show how to do this kinda of process. My friend is a diesel mechanic and i do all the reasearch on stuff like this. so far all i have worked on was a b-series 12v cummins and those are easy to turn up. i dont want to mess the tractor up i depend on it to much. i do have a bigger radiator and the tractor runs cold any ways even on 90* days running for 6 hours straight. i really would like to find bigger injectors but i might just take them out and get the holes recut for more flow

As far as Injectors are concerned, I don't think you will have to change them. It appears that Yanmar offered this engine (in naturally aspriated form) up to 31.5 hp (gross), so you could get 5-6 h.p. with Factory parts-I would recommend that you call a Yanmar Engine Distributor and find out if it is just a Pump setting that can be recalibrated-

Speaking of Cummins, if you remember the old Big Cam 855's, on the bigger Tractors the Engines were rated (with the same basic shortblock) from 290-420 h.p.-in many instances we used to turn them up, say from 300-375 h.p. with a simple Injection Pump recalibration, but when you went from 375-420 you had to change the Turbo, Exhaust Manifolds and Injectors-

I work in a Dodge store. You don't even want to know how many folks get to buy a new engine from a little 'push' that 'wil NEVER void your warranty'...

Know what you are doing. If in doubt, don't.
