I bought a fuel tank and the data tag is missing. How can I figure out how many gals it holds, It is an L shaped tank which I thought was for a pickup but it is almost 5 foot long so I think it was on a larger truck. Thanks Ivan

Use one gallon milk jug to fill it and count how many gallons it takes to fill.

I cubic foot equals 7.48 gallons. Measure the tank and figure out its cubic feet than multiply by 7.48 to get capacity in gallons.

Break it down into 2 rectangular portions. Length X Width X Height = cubic measure. (231 cubic inches = 1 gallon) (1 cubic foot = 7.48051948 gallons)

I know ( well, I think I know) the math is right but why does a 5 gallon bucket of paint look like more than a cubic foot.

A question I can't answer, but the apparent visual disparity isn't so extreme when you look at a 5-gallon gasoline container.
