I got 2 older steel slip tanks from a friend that are in great shape except for the paint. I want to freshen them up I will be putting gas in one and diesel in the other. Does anyone know what type of paint to use I don't want the paint peeling and bubbling if I spill some fuel on it.

I like the Por 15 products. THere really tough. As far as gas resistant, i cant say for sure, but i know they wont come off your skin with lacquer thinner, so i imagine they'd be pretty fuel resistant.

Any high quality automotive paint should work just fine. Paint doesn't peel off vehicles if you spill fuel on them. Personally I like Sherman Williams or 3M automotive paints.

Look into the Endura Brand 2 parts for colors,
I use EP2C (etching primer 2 component) for inside and outside of my tanks and the old MIL style steel jerry cans

+1 on the POR 15 products. I restored an old Chevelle 20+ years ago and some of the POR 15 matte black frame paint is STILL on my garage floor. Tremendous product.

I have restored a few old motorcycle tanks and any properly applied auto paint will do the job as well. I sand blasted an old GI gas can years ago , primed w/auto primer, and hit it with the last of some auto paint I had left from a paint job. Talk about BULLETPROOF!! Even rolling around in the back of the pickup the finish has held up very well.
