Hello to all,

I started a thread to ask questions about my brothers M4900 [See thread link below].

Out of this thread, to eliminate water in fuel, checking the fuel filer bowl often was a suggestion. Well, I have good and bad news.

Turned fuel lever to "off" position, then removed fuel filter/bowl, but a pencil lead size stream of fuel continued to come out. I partially moved the lever back to "on" position to see if it would really flow and it did. I had to work fast in getting the fuel bowl assembly emptied and all back together. The good news is I did not detect any water or other in the bottom.

Any ideas on what the issue could be or a fix? I did have a 5 gal bucket underneath to catch fuel...

Thank you,
tstex

You could remove the valve and see if turning the handle actually turns the valve completely closed. The other option would be to replace the valve.

When you say remove the valve and determine if closing it actually shuts it off all the way, can you go into more detail? Thanks

I知 trying to avoid replacement.

I think it might have something stuck in it or if you close it to far its open up a little , Maybe a o-ring is leaking ....:2cents:

Here's a link to the parts list:

it looks like it has 4 o-rings. at one of which most likely is in the valve assembly, it probably went bad, a cheap repair. you can remove the line going into the filter, then use a pencil inserted into that to stop the fuel, then you can disassemble the valve assembly. it looks like 2 screws on the plate around the knob..
