I have been away from this forum for a while. I am glad to see it is still alive and kicking. I have a 2005 BX23 with around 200 hours. I don't normally fill the tank right to the top, but this last time the can was nearly empty anyway so I filled it to about an inch of the top. It's down a little from there since I did run some more after filling it. Two days later I notice several drips of fuel on the back side of the left rear tire, directly under the rear corner of the fuel tank. There is a hose connection there on the lower part of the tank corner, and there appears to be another on the upper corner although I can't see up there very well. I don't think it is the lower hose that is leaking since I can see "tracks" that go up from there on the side of the tank.
I searched through this forum and found a few posts about some kind of sending unit failure on the BX23. The description of fuel dripping on the left rear tire matches what I am seeing. It mentioned some kind of repair kit for this problem, not just a replacement part. Has anyone here experienced this leak? Can you tell me about how you repaired it and the parts you used? I haven't called my dealer yet, but I like to be prepared before I do. No warranty left, so I will be repairing it myself. It appears that the ROPS and the fender will need to be removed to get to the tank. Is that correct? Any info you can offer will be appreciated.
Thanks.
