I have been away from this forum for a while. I am glad to see it is still alive and kicking. I have a 2005 BX23 with around 200 hours. I don't normally fill the tank right to the top, but this last time the can was nearly empty anyway so I filled it to about an inch of the top. It's down a little from there since I did run some more after filling it. Two days later I notice several drips of fuel on the back side of the left rear tire, directly under the rear corner of the fuel tank. There is a hose connection there on the lower part of the tank corner, and there appears to be another on the upper corner although I can't see up there very well. I don't think it is the lower hose that is leaking since I can see "tracks" that go up from there on the side of the tank.

I searched through this forum and found a few posts about some kind of sending unit failure on the BX23. The description of fuel dripping on the left rear tire matches what I am seeing. It mentioned some kind of repair kit for this problem, not just a replacement part. Has anyone here experienced this leak? Can you tell me about how you repaired it and the parts you used? I haven't called my dealer yet, but I like to be prepared before I do. No warranty left, so I will be repairing it myself. It appears that the ROPS and the fender will need to be removed to get to the tank. Is that correct? Any info you can offer will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Allen

I believe you’re correct in that the fuel sending housing is leaking. I've replaced mine with the 'new' unit, but still have some minor leakage. I could probably fix it if I wanted to take the ROPS and fender off and retighten the hardware holding the sending unit.

Allen, what you are describing is a problem that seems to happen only rarely on the BX23. I know from experience that this is also happening to some BX24s as well - because my BX24's sending unit was just replaced under warranty. Contact your dealer about the problem; if your warranty has just recently expired, your dealer may still be in a position to help out in some way.

it wasn't an occasional problem, **** near every unit we sold did it. its not a technically hard job to fit the update sender (god knows i did a few) but it isn't a 2 minute job. about a hour or 2. use a hardening type sealant on the unit when you are installing it or it may still drip a bit.

Been doing some reading up on the BX23 fuel leak. It looks like my BX23 has started leaking. Every fall I top up the fuel tank before storing it in the barn for the winter. Yesterday I was out putting a new battery into the machine and noticed a stain running down the inside of the left rear tire, I checked the fuel level and sure enough its down a bit. There are several hoses attached and the ones on the bottom appear ok. I suspect the sending unit seal at the top is leaking. What type of sealant would you recommend if I attempted to repair the leak? Does the fender need to be removed?

Not sure if the BX23 is the same as a BX2200 when it comes to this part. I had the same leak you are describing some years ago & replaced the fuel sensor to tank gasket & bracket with a kit that at that time was in a recall. Part is Kubota: FUEL CENTER KIT, Part # K2561-96140. Hope this helps.

I've had that part in the cabinet in my garage for several years and my BX2200 still leaks fuel on my left rear tire if I fill it too full. I'll get around to changing it one of these days. Before I got the replacement part, I sealed up the sender with some RTV and it held for quite a while then started leaking again.:D
