Massey Ferguson 40 Industrial
I have a Massey 40 Industrial. This is a gas 3 cylinder. The guage that is in the tank has one wire that goes to one side of the guage on the dash. It also has a ground wire that is not attached to anything. The dash guage also has a wire on the back of it that is not attached to anything and has been cut. What wire should go to what??? I do not see any hot wire going to either the tank or the guage. I would really like to get the gas guage to work. I hate to always stick something in the tank to check the level of gas. Thank you.

I suspect your circuit should be something like this: ignition circuit probably was connected to the gauge wire you said was cut, possibly through a fuse somewhere. One wire from gauge to sender and the body of the sender should be grounded. It may ground on its own through the mounting screws but many systems added a ground wire to make sure. You might want to experiment with a 12V jumper wire and flash it to the gauge wire in question just to see it the needle moves. A quick flash usually wont damage anything if you're wrong. If the needle moves in the wrong direction, reverse the wires and try again.
