Last Saturday I was using my RK37HSC to move some round bales of horse hay and as I was shutting down the fuel gauge indicated two bars. Then yesterday when I started it up the gauge indicated a full tank. This has happened on at least one other occasion. I used the machine for about 20 minutes and then shut it down for about two hours. The time I did run it was over a pretty bumpy area so if it was a stuck fuel level float it should have jarred it loose. When I started it up again to move it back to where I keep it parked the fuel gauge was flashing with one bar that I'm empty which should be the correct reading. Anyone else experienced an issue comparable to this? Thanks......Don

My older cars and my tractor does a similar thing on hills if I’m on them a sustained amount of time. Mine all have the mechanical dial, not digital gauge; however I think it’s just a delay in the float sending a signal to the display. I generally trust my tractors fuel gauge on the barn floor or level ground after sitting a bit.

Ever since creating this back in January my fuel gauge has been squirrely off and on but I think it's finally bit the dust. Yesterday I went out to do some work and the fuel gauge read 3/4 tank which I knew to be inaccurate because I was down to less than 1/2 tank last time I used it. After starting the tractor and moving about 10 feet the gauge went to full and stayed there. After about 45 minutes use it was still showing full but I went to put fuel in to make sure I didn't run out. I added a full 5 gallon can to the tank and the tank wasn't completely full. I don't think it's the gauge or I believe it would be reading empty rather than full. I'm going to check the connections on the tank sending unit to see if maybe the ground wire is lose. If that's Ok then I'll pull the sending unit to see if the float is stuck full up. I should be able top read the resistance of the sending unit with a meter to see if there's a problem with it. It bee this weekend before I get a chance to check the wiring and if that's Ok then I'll wait until I've used up some the fuel out of the tank before removing the sending unit. Anybody else had an issue with their fuel readings?

Haven't had any issues with fuel gauge. Sorry you are, that's frustrating. Warranty should cover that if you're close enough.

Well, I guess I didn't monitor my fuel usage close enough. Was out mowing the pasture yesterday when I ran out of fuel. Crap, I can't be out of fuel cuz the gauge says it's full. I guess now will be the time to check the wiring to the fuel level float. Looking at the parts diagram it looks like it's on the top right side of the tank. Hopefully not too much will have to be pulled off to get to it.

Saturday when I was at RK I mentioned to the tractor rep that I had ran out of fuel in the middle the pasture yet the fuel gauge reads full. I asked him what had top be removed to get to the fuel level float assembly and he told me to just remove the four 10mm bolts on the panel above the tank and the float assembly was right there. Yesterday I added a couple gallons of fuel, bled the air out of the system so I could get the tractor up to the house to pull the cover. As soon as I removed the cover the gauge dropped down to showing a 1/4 tank. I didn't see any frayed wiring but there was a tiny shiny spot on the panel like maybe where the wires were being pinched or rubbing. I moved and twisted the harness trying to see if I could get it to jump back to full but never saw the issue again. I did put a piece of duct tape on the underneath of the panel where I saw the shiny spot before I put it back together. Mowed about 4 hours after that and the gauge dropped accordingly with the fuel usage.
