I was wondering if anyone has done any testing or experianced any products that increase fuel economy? Specifics would be nice..

Mainly HD diesel engine oil any results?

Fuel additives?

In my Duramax I just switched from conventional oil to Shell Rotella synthetic. No increase in fuel economy. I have used mobil 1 in several vehicles. I do like the product but I have never noticed any gain in fuel economy. I just started with DFA in the tractor. There is a noticeable noise decrease in engine knock useing it. Dave

I've used Mobil 1 in a couple of cars and highly recommend it, but I think it would be awfully hard to measure any mileage difference in the real world, even harder in something like a tractor. I just bought a motorhome with a 330HP Cat that I am going to switch to synthetic this weekend. Any help with 7.5 MPG would be nice, but I think the synthetics mainly help reduce engine wear.

I had a 328 BMW on Mobil 1 that I ran the wheels off of up and down the mountains in Southern California /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. When we had is smogged, they said it was the cleanest engine they had ever tested.

I haven't had my tractor long enough to say, but on my PSD Excursion switching to Delvac 1 made a huge difference in cold starting. It turns over so much easier and idles better when cold. (I'm talking WINTER cold! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) Once I get my Kubota broken in I'll switch it over too.

MPG wise I haven't seen any measurable difference, but I did pick up 4 hp on my last dyno run.

Regards,
Dave

I forgot to list which lubricants to look up. I tried to post a product data sheet but it was too large.
Engine Oil - 8800 MONOLEC ULTRA
Hydraulic Fluid - 7500 MONOLEC Power Fluid
Fuel Additive - BTU Diesel Fuel Improvers (2410, 2420, 2430)

I hope this helps.

I've seen reports from many oil companys of 1-4% for delvac 1 and lists the breakdown which includes 75w-140 gear oil increase of 1.3%..

The amsoil claims 8.2% for 5w30 but never seen anyone use it or heard any comments on it..

I seen some new products for rigs that have 5w-30 that claim about the same 6-7% from castrol but not found a supplier yet.

Thanks for info.. keep it coming..
