Oil & Fuel Fuel Consumption on B7500HSD

I went through about 2 1/2 gallons of deisel mowing 4 or 5 acres of foot-long grass yesterday with MMM. I was fighting heat problems (see my other post), but I was wondering if this seems to be a pretty typical rate of consumption.

That sounds about right. You should be running engine at PTO speed and low range for transmission. With grass that high. My MMM will use more fuel than that. My MMM will not do a very good job cutting 12" high grass. I use my 60" rotary to cut it. Then go over with my MMM. Easier on tractor and MMM.

I agree, that sounds right. If you mowed in 4 wheel drive it'll take more fuel.
