Question has anyone been having trouble with their fuel bowl leaking at the o-ring? This is my 3rd o-ring in 2 months. I don't know if it is the heat or what? I live in Florida and it has been super hot. I don't see any cracks or any imperfections on the housing. Did anyone switch over to a glass fuel bowl instead of the plastic one? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the correct O-ring.

I purchased the o-rings from 2 different companies. So I would think they are right.

Might you be using a ethanol blend gas? Some rubber compounds don't react to well with ethanol. You might try getting a Viton or EPDM compound rubber O-Ring instead of the old Buna-N type.

If the O-Ring you have is round (the cross section that is) you might try getting a square cut O-Ring. It will have a much greater sealing surface than the round type.

Diesel Power, thanks for the info I will try a square ring. As far as the your other reply it uses Diesel fuel. Now I am wondering if there is a difference in orings for gas or diesel?

This is a long shot, but are you installing it in the right place?
The o-ring rests on that outside shoulder that is near the top of the bowl - not at the extreme top of the bowl, and not beneath the shoulder.

If that's not it, could the leak instead be from the seal for the on/off lever?

California, I believe I am installing it right, also when I purchased the tractor a little over 2 months ago. The dealer installed the first o-ring because I spotted it leaking. I replaced 2 after him. It takes maybe 2 to 2 1/2 weeks before it starts leaking after replacement. I thought vibration was the problem but the ring is tight when I check it. This thing sure has me scratching my bald head!

Fuel filter may be incorrect size. I had one that was a little longer than the original one, ended up causing a hairline crack in the clear type bowl right at the base of the lip. Part number 11 would hide this from visual inspection. With a longer filter you may not be able to torque it enough for a good seal. If the filter, o-ring, bowl are correct and both mating surfaces are smooth and clear of debris then you may just need to put a little more muscle behind the wrench.

I had this same trouble! I was told on this forum that those fuel bowls shrink over time. I ordered a new fuel bowl. I think from Hoye? Any way that is what u need. The old one was clear hard plastic and the new one is a softer cloudy plastic but it has been great for about 2 years.
