When ploughing with my vaaljapie tractor i noticed the fuel in the tank boils due to the fact that the tank sits right on top of the engine. This results in high fuel consumption as the tractor uses petrol and tends to vapourise. Will raising the tank a bit so that it's not in contact with engine resolve my issue? Any input appreciated.

Regards

There are three things you can do to lower the temperature of your tank.
1. As you suggest, increase distance between tank and source of heat (engine);
2. Increase ventilation (remove hood, put louvers on hood or side panels, remove side panels, improve action of fan , verify the radiator is free of debris; and
3. Reduce the temperature of the heat source (check that the cooling equipment is working, timing is correct, engine compartment is clean.

It strikes me you chosen the most difficult avenue. I'd try 2 and 3 first

I am guessing this tractor is 70+ years old. Something must have changed to make this a problem now. I agree with the post above. Find out why it is a issue now.

Check for a missing heat shield between the tank and engine.

A clean radiator can make a huge difference. I was stunned by how much when I restored my Ford. I had the radiator out when I cleaned the fins and tubes of built-up dirt.
