FRUSTRATED AND NEED TO VENT

A little off topic, but what kills me is all those commercials you where Verizon claims to have cell service in those "dead zones". Well, I live in one of them and Verizon has no cell coverage there, but AT&T does. So I call them to ask about it at least once a month.

I also get tons of offers from Verizon for free high speed internet (for 6 months) and other stuff. I call them every time to get it hooked up to my place, but of course they can't do it. I have no land line there yet. I remind them AT&T has cell and land service available there and where is their "Verizon network" when you need it? I call them every time and make sure they record the conversation. After all, they send those fliers out hoping for some response, right?
I making good use of my spare time.

Rob you are correct they flood my mail box with offers but none of it is available in my area, would just love to get nice new lines so i don;t have the stated problem.

Had pretty much the same problem as the original poster. I disconnected all my phones, plugged 120vac into the phone line back to the phone company and promptly dried out and welded all the connections to my phone line. That hit took care of everything!

I don't recommend you do that though. What you want to do is request to have sealing current added to your phone line. It will cost a little more each month, but it will cure your problem of noise when the lines are wet. What happens is, the phone company will install some gear at your house that will pull a load on the line, then they will put a current on the line to the load. This current will keep all the connections from being intermittent during wet weather. When a constant current is on the line, corrosion will not build up on the connections.

Google "sealing current" and read up on it.
