While recently greasing my frontier 7 foot sickle bar mower, I noticed that three parts were missing from the hinge assembly. They are indicated on the attachments and are numbers 26, 27, and 28. The main part, #26, is named as a conic pin FB.
I bought the mower new in 2007; I do not know if the parts were not there as of day 1 or if they came loose sometime within the 12 years of use. The mower is sporadically used in the spring and fall to clean around a pond and a hillside where it is impractical to use a bush hog.
The mower seems to cut well and does not seem to be affected by the absence of the parts.
So I have two questions: 1) what function do these parts provide and 2) will the mower be eventually harmed if I do not replace the parts?
