Frontier 60" Cutter almost took off thumb

Just posting this to hopefully stop someone else from getting a severe thumb injury. This is in no way the cutters fault but a safety issue none the less. I disconnected my mower Sunday afternoon and was pushing it into the garage, with a dolly under the front of the mower. What I didn't realize at the time was I was pushing on the vertical bars that go up and attach to that pivot point. This whole assembly will collapse when disconnected from the tractor if you didn't know. Consequently it collapsed and almost took my thumb completely off. So 3 hours in the ER, 10 stitches later, broken thumb and a smashed thumb and lesson learned. I need to find a way to support this upper bracket when it's off the tractor for sure. So, be careful guys and gals.

it is something many won't consider if attempting to move one of these cutters..
that whole assembly can certainly pinch ya!
hope everything works out ok for your thumb...
maybe you will want to collapse that hitch after you remove it from
the tractor? and then throw a bungy cord around it while it's in storage.

Definitely need to figure something out so no one else gets hurt. It should have a safety pin you can install when removing from the tractor. I have it collapsed for now.

No thanks. Looks like my finger from taking off (a home made) Steiner tractor rake in the dark. Found out I had created a monster with a very nasty pinch hazzard!

Funny how they never show pictures like your thumb when showing how easily everything works! lol

BTW Does Obama cover that?

Wow... ouch. Nice to know my brush hog likes to cut more than weeds, I have a frontier too. However... it sits in the field when unhooked. Under a foot of snow at the moment!
